The Unit

The Academic Planning Unit is an integral part of the Vice-Chancellor’s office, headed by a director who is appointed by and responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day management of academic planning functions of the university. In its activities, the unit provides assistance and advisory role to the Vice-Chancellor on matters relating to the academic planning and quality assurance of the University, as well as issues relating to staff development programmes.

Since the inception of the University in 2011, the Academic Planning Unit has been providing focus, direction and purpose for the academic advancement of the University in line with the National Universities Commission (NUC) benchmark. The Unit is responsible for gathering, analyzing and interpreting statistical data that assists the Vice-Chancellor and indeed all other units of the university in performing their planning functions. The unit is expected to present its findings in the form of annual reports, academic briefs, news-letters and periodicals.

The Unit also coordinates the university’s strategic and master plans from where every unit, department and faculty derives its benchmark in their overall realization of the university’s strategic objectives. When fully operational, it provides a warehouse where all new findings and breakthroughs are collated for onward publication and dissemination. It is this unit that assists the Vice-Chancellor in responding to the information requests and queries from the Council, National Universities Commission (NUC) and Ministry of Education.
